Article 4 FAQs
Does Article 4 require a certificate?
No specific certificate is required according to the European Commission Q&A. Internal records of trainings and guiding initiatives may be kept.
Is AI literacy only for technical staff?
No. The scope includes staff and other persons dealing with the operation and use of AI systems on behalf of providers or deployers, with measures calibrated to knowledge, experience, training and context.
When does enforcement matter?
Article 4 applied from 2 February 2025, and supervision and enforcement rules apply from 3 August 2026 according to the Commission Q&A.
